With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. One of our goals at College Factual is to give you as much information as we can - such as our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Informatics” ranking - to help you make that decision.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Informatics” ranking, we looked at 6 colleges that offer a degree in informatics. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality informatics programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the informatics program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
The colleges and universities below are the best for middle atlantic region vets studying informatics.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Syracuse University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Informatics list. This large school is located in Syracuse, New York, and it awarded 258 ’s informatics degrees in 2020-2021.
Syracuse also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 21,322 students enrolled at Syracuse University, 385 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 250 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $20,840. On top of their other funding sources, 217 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend New York University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Informatics list. This large school is located in New York, New York, and it awarded 54 ’s informatics degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our middle atlantic region vets studying informatics list, NYU has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 1 of the 52,775 students enrolled at New York University were GI Bill® students, of which 1 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,388. In addition to receiving other benefits, 1 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 90%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. RIT is a private not-for-profit institution located in Rochester, New York. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 78 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
RIT also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 16,158 students enrolled at RIT, 1 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $17,424. During this same period, 0 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. RIT offers credit for military training for eligible students.

University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Campus is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 37 ’s informatics degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Pitt, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, Pitt supports 32,277 students, and 509 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 364 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $16,281. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Pitt does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

University at Albany is a fairly large school located in Albany, New York that handed out 138 ’s informatics degrees in 2020-2021.
UAlbany did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 17,688 students enrolled at UAlbany, 260 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
