When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Informatics” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 2,726 people earned their degree in informatics, making the major the 246th most popular in the United States.
Across the Southeast region, there were 162 informatics graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Informatics” ranking analyzed 6 colleges that offered a degree in informatics. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent informatics programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Florida. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Informatics list. Located in Gainesville, Florida, this large public school awarded 7 degrees to qualified ’s informatics students in 2020-2021.
UF did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 53,372 students enrolled at UF, 1 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 0 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $0. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
With a freshman retention rate of 97%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Liberty University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Informatics list. Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, this large private not-for-profit school awarded 33 degrees to qualified ’s informatics students in 2020-2021.
Liberty University did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 13,282 of the 93,349 students enrolled at Liberty University were GI Bill® students, of which 8,897 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $4,888. To help with additional expenses, 386 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of North Florida. The school came in at #3 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Informatics. UNF is a fairly large public school situated in Jacksonville, Florida. It awarded 6 ’s informatics degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UNF, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of North Florida supports 16,926 students, and 1,067 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 616 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $3,959. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette is located in Lafayette, Louisiana and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 43 ’s informatics degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UL Lafayette, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of Louisiana at Lafayette supports 16,450 students, and 604 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 224 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $5,336. On top of their other funding sources, 4 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of Louisiana at Lafayette does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a public institution located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 12 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our southeast region vets studying informatics list, UNC Greensboro has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 885 of the 19,764 students enrolled at UNC Greensboro were GI Bill® students, of which 329 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $5,723. To help with additional expenses, 14 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.
