With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for IT for a Bachelor’s” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2020-2021, 31,531 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 35th most popular in the United States.
Across the Southwest region, there were 3,302 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,990 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for IT for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 21 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the information technology program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

UNT also made our “Best Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #4.Our most recent data shows that 2,038 of the 40,953 students enrolled at UNT were GI Bill® students, of which 1,138 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas Christian University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for IT for a Bachelor’s list. This fairly large school is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and it awarded 4 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
