For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 16 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Florida State University landed the #1 spot on the list. Florida State University is located in Tallahassee, Florida and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 64 masters’s IT degrees to qualified students.
In addition to being on our southeast region master’s degree vets studying it list, Florida State has also earned the #2 rank in our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 8 of the 43,569 students enrolled at Florida State were GI Bill® students, of which 8 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,819. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 95%. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend George Mason University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s list. This large school is located in Fairfax, Virginia, and it awarded 56 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
GMU not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #1 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 2,334 of the 38,541 students enrolled at George Mason University were GI Bill® students, of which 1,583 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $10,710. To help with additional expenses, 42 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. George Mason University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Marymount University landed the #3 spot on the list. Arlington, Virginia is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s IT degrees to 38 students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Marymount, the school also landed the #5 spot in our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 175 of the 3,294 students enrolled at Marymount were GI Bill® students, of which 172 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $15,047. On top of their other funding sources, 35 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Marymount does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, University of South Florida - Main Campus landed the #4 spot on the list. USF Tampa is a large school located in Tampa, Florida that handed out 14 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
USF Tampa not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #6 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list.Of the 50,626 students enrolled at University of South Florida - Main Campus, 2,211 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1,241 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $4,943. During this same period, 13 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of South Florida - Main Campus offers credit for military training for eligible students.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 92%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Liberty University. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s list. Liberty University is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Lynchburg, Virginia. It awarded 19 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our southeast region master’s degree vets studying it list, Liberty University has also earned the #9 rank in our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 13,282 of the 93,349 students enrolled at Liberty University were GI Bill® students, of which 8,897 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $4,888. To help with additional expenses, 386 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Liberty University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Florida International University ranked #6 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s list. FIU is located in Miami, Florida and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 12 masters’s IT degrees to qualified students.
FIU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #8 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list.Of the 58,836 students enrolled at Florida International University, 1,079 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 606 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,771. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Florida International University offers credit for military training for eligible students.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 91%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

University of North Carolina at Charlotte came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s ranking. UNC Charlotte is located in Charlotte, North Carolina and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 75 masters’s IT degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UNC Charlotte, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of North Carolina at Charlotte supports 30,146 students, and 1,476 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 642 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Nova Southeastern University ranked #8 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s list. NUS Florida is a private not-for-profit institution located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The school has a large population, and it awarded 23 masters’s degrees in 2020-2021.
NUS Florida also made our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list, coming in at #4.Of the 20,888 students enrolled at Nova Southeastern University, 522 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 335 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $12,213. With a ranking of #10, University of Memphis did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s list. Located in Memphis, Tennessee, this large public school awarded 60 diplomas to qualified masters’s IT students in 2020-2021.
UofM did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #12 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list.Of the 22,205 students enrolled at UofM, 766 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Murray State University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #11. This medium-sized school is located in Murray, Kentucky, and it awarded 15 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
