With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for CIS for an Associate” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 88,434 computer information systems students received their degree, making the major the 9th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, computer information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $54,066 and had an average of $26,787 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 9,823 computer information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,372 and $27,524 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 904 computer information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,077 and $19,490 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for CIS for an Associate” ranking looked at 12 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer information systems. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality computer information systems programs as well as strong veteran support.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the computer information systems program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

University of Toledo is a public institution located in Toledo, Ohio. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 11 associates’s degrees in 2020-2021.
University of Toledo not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #4 on our “Best Computer Information Systems Associate Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list.Of the 18,319 students enrolled at University of Toledo, 510 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
