Computer Information Systems is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 9th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 88,434 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, computer information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $54,066 and had an average of $26,787 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 15,322 computer information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,738 and $24,365 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer information systems programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for CIS for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, Carnegie Mellon University landed the #1 spot on the list. Carnegie Mellon University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It awarded 44 doctorate’s CIS degrees in 2020-2021.
Carnegie Mellon did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Computer Information Systems Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 117 of the 13,519 students enrolled at Carnegie Mellon were GI Bill® students, of which 72 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctorate’s CIS degrees to 17 students in 2020-2021.
UPenn not only placed well in this ranking.
