Computer Programming is the 108th most popular major in the country with 11,939 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, computer programming graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,629 and had an average of $27,450 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 777 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $48,415 and $29,033 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 280 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,164 and $17,633 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Programming for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 5 colleges that offer a degree in computer programming. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality computer programming programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 5 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Programming for an Associate that were part of this year’s ranking, Community College of Allegheny County landed the #1 spot on the list. Community College of Allegheny County is a fairly large school located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that handed out 28 associates’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Programming for an Associate. This fairly large school is located in Staten Island, New York, and it awarded 9 associates’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our middle atlantic region associate degree vets studying programming list, CSI has also earned the #4 rank in our “Best Computer Programming Associate Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking.Among the 12,797 students enrolled at College of Staten Island CUNY, 119 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 65 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $4,068. Pittsburgh Technical College is a private not-for-profit institution located in Oakdale, Pennsylvania. The school has a small population, and it awarded 24 associates’s degrees in 2020-2021.
