Computer Programming is the 108th most popular major in the country with 11,939 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, computer programming graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,629 and had an average of $27,450 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 349 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $49,806 and $24,237 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 61 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,403 and $25,944 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Programming for a Bachelor’s” ranking looked at 4 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer programming. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer programming programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Yale University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Programming for a Bachelor’s list. Yale is located in New Haven, Connecticut and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 9 bachelors’s programming degrees to qualified students.
In addition to being on our new england region bachelor’s degree vets studying programming list, Yale has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Computer Programming Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 1 of the 12,060 students enrolled at Yale University were GI Bill® students, of which 1 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,238. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Champlain College is a small school located in Burlington, Vermont that handed out 18 bachelors’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Champlain, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best Computer Programming Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” ranking.Among the 4,137 students enrolled at Champlain, 301 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Western Connecticut State University is a small school located in Danbury, Connecticut that handed out 9 bachelors’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.

It placed #4 on our “Best Computer Programming Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.Of the 5,246 students enrolled at Western Connecticut State University, 119 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. The school came in at #4 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Programming for a Bachelor’s. New England Tech is a small private not-for-profit school situated in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. It awarded 20 bachelors’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.
New England Tech also took the #2 spot in our “Best Computer Programming Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 259 of the 2,031 students enrolled at New England Tech were GI Bill® students, of which 135 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $14,686. To help with additional expenses, 34 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%. Since the school has a undergrad student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1, those pursuing a degree will have more opportunities to interact with their professors.
