In 2020-2021, 11,939 people earned their degree in computer programming, making the major the 108th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer programming graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,629 and had an average of $27,450 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Far Western US region, there were 2,192 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $52,069 and $32,266 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Programming” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer programming. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer programming programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the computer programming program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Programming that were part of this year’s ranking, Lake Washington Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. This small school is located in Kirkland, Washington, and it awarded 50 ’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at CSN, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, College of Southern Nevada supports 29,965 students, and 1,398 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 798 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. DigiPen Institute of Technology is located in Redmond, Washington and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 88 ’s programming degrees to qualified students.

Digipen also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 1,120 students enrolled at Digipen, 76 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 63 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $19,756. In addition to receiving other benefits, 43 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.

The impressive undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.
