In 2020-2021, 11,939 people earned their degree in computer programming, making the major the 108th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer programming graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,629 and had an average of $27,450 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,256 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $45,849 and $24,337 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Programming” ranking, we looked at 6 colleges that offer a degree in computer programming. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer programming programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Top 6 Best Computer Programming Colleges for Veterans in the Southwest Region
Out of the 6 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Programming that were part of this year’s ranking, Austin Community College District landed the #1 spot on the list. Austin, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s programming degrees to 92 students in 2020-2021.
Austin Community College District not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 39,896 students enrolled at Austin Community College District, 2,473 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of the 6 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Programming that were part of this year’s ranking, Grand Canyon University landed the #2 spot on the list. Phoenix, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out ’s programming degrees to 50 students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Grand Canyon University, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, Grand Canyon University supports 103,427 students, and 7,172 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 4,951 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $5,970. During this same period, 5 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Grand Canyon University offers credit for military training for eligible students.

In addition to being on our southwest region vets studying programming list, University of Advancing Technology has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of Advancing Technology supports 836 students, and 168 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 123 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,000. During this same period, 19 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of Advancing Technology offers credit for military training for eligible students.

UOPX - Arizona is located in Tempe, Arizona and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 237 ’s programming degrees to qualified students.
In addition to being on our southwest region vets studying programming list, UOPX - Arizona has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 89,763 students enrolled at UOPX - Arizona, 135 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 157 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,437. In addition to receiving other benefits, 1 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Amarillo College is a medium-sized school located in Amarillo, Texas that handed out 115 ’s programming degrees in 2020-2021.
Amarillo College not only placed well in this ranking.
