It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. In 2020-2021, 59,565 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 5,158 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $80,479 and $22,782 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 224 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,618 and $16,599 respectively.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Bunker Hill Community College. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for CompSci for an Associate list. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, this medium-sized public school awarded 39 diplomas to qualified associates’s compsci students in 2020-2021.
BHCC not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #1 on our “Best Computer Science Associate Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.Of the 9,924 students enrolled at BHCC, 355 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 256 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $3,893. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for CompSci for an Associate. STCC is located in Springfield, Massachusetts and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 13 associates’s compsci degrees to qualified students.
STCC also made our “Best Computer Science Associate Degree Schools in the New England Region” list, coming in at #2.Of the 4,327 students enrolled at Springfield Technical Community College, 154 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 80 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,577. To help with additional expenses, 2 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
