In 2020-2021, 59,565 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 7,044 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $64,824 and $25,910 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 4,453 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,343 and $26,790 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for CompSci for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 53 colleges that offer a degree in computer science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer science programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
