In 2020-2021, 59,565 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 3,242 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $61,424 and $28,353 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,418 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,089 and $26,296 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for CompSci for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 20 colleges that offered a degree in computer science. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality computer science programs as well as strong veteran support.

University of Colorado Boulder is a public institution located in Boulder, Colorado. The school has a large population, and it awarded 475 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.
