In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 2,218 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,109 and $37,581 respectively.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Virginia Commonwealth University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Well Attended IS Major in the Southeast Region. Virginia Commonwealth University is a large school located in Richmond, Virginia that handed out 193 ’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 2.6%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

Out of the 95 schools in the Most Well Attended IS Major in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, James Madison University landed the #2 spot on the list. James Madison University is a large public school situated in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It awarded 168 ’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 2.0% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools.
