For this year's Best Information Science Colleges for Non-Traditional Students ranking, we looked at 55 colleges that offer a bachelor's in is. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information science programs, but they also offer a lot of support to non-traditional students.

University of Maryland Global Campus tops the 2021 list of our schools in the United States that are best for non-traditional information science students. UMGC is a fairly large public school located in the large suburb of Adelphi.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.2%. 47,272 students at UMGC are exclusively online. There are roughly 45,251 part time students in attendance at UMGC.

University of Michigan - Ann Arbor comes in at #2 in this year's ranking. Located in the medium-sized city of Ann Arbor, U-M is a public school with a very large student population. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, U-M has also earned the #1 rank in our Best Colleges for Information Science ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.2%. There are approximately 15,737 students at U-M that take at least one class online. 3,568 students are part time.

Syracuse University comes in at #3 in this year's ranking. Located in the city of Syracuse, Syracuse is a private not-for-profit school with a very large student population. Syracuse not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #2 on our Best Colleges for Information Science list.
The student loan default rate at Syracuse is lower than is typical, just 1.1% of students default in three years. There are approximately 2,812 students at Syracuse that take at least one class online. About 3,491 of the students at Syracuse are attending part time.

Pennsylvania State University - Main Campus landed the #4 spot in our 2021 best information science schools for non-traditional students. Penn State University Park is a very large public school located in the city of University Park. Penn State University Park also took the #3 spot in our Best Colleges for Information Science rankings.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.0%. All of Penn State University Park students are attending part time.

University of Maryland - Baltimore County comes in at #5 in this year's ranking. UMBC is a fairly large public school located in the large suburb of Baltimore. UMBC also made our Best Colleges for Information Science list, coming in at #5.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.1%. There are approximately 8,618 students at UMBC that take at least one class online. There are roughly 2,955 part time students in attendance at UMBC.

The #6 spot in this year's ranking belongs to University of Maryland - College Park. UMCP is a fairly large public school located in the large suburb of College Park. UMCP did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #4 on our Best Colleges for Information Science list.
About 0.7% of UMCP students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 11,700 students at UMCP that take at least one class online. About 4,841 of the students at UMCP are attending part time.

Drexel University landed the #7 spot in our 2021 best information science schools for non-traditional students. Drexel is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Philadelphia. Drexel also took the #6 spot in our Best Colleges for Information Science rankings.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.9%. There are approximately 6,249 students at Drexel that take at least one class online. There are roughly 5,829 part time students in attendance at Drexel.

The #8 spot in this year's ranking belongs to James Madison University. Located in the small city of Harrisonburg, JMU is a public school with a fairly large student population. In addition to being on our bet for non-traditional students list, JMU is in the top 15% of all schools on our Best Colleges for Information Science list.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.8%. There are approximately 6,740 students at JMU that take at least one class online. There are roughly 2,328 part time students in attendance at JMU.

University of Utah earned the #9 spot in our 2021 rankings. U of U is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized city of Salt Lake City. U of U also claimed a spot on our Best Colleges for Information Science list. It's in the top 15% of all schools in this category.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earned the #10 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the city of Chapel Hill, UNC Chapel Hill is a public school with a fairly large student population. UNC Chapel Hill also took the #8 spot in our Best Colleges for Information Science rankings.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.9%. There are approximately 6,990 students at UNC Chapel Hill that take at least one class online. 5,151 students are part time.
