It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for IS for a Doctorate” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 18,325 people earned their degree in information science, making the major the 58th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 8,721 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,870 and $26,542 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for IS for a Doctorate” ranking looked at 9 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in information science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information science programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

University at Albany did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for IS for a Doctorate ranking, coming in at #6. Located in Albany, New York, this fairly large public school awarded 4 diplomas to qualified doctorate’s IS students in 2020-2021.
