When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Information Science is the 58th most popular major in the country with 18,325 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 1,038 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $67,605 and $24,016 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS” ranking analyzed 10 colleges that offered a degree in information science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information science programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

The following schools top our list of the Best “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS”.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Norwich University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS. Norwich University is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Northfield, Vermont. It awarded 112 ’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
Norwich also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 822 of the 3,975 students enrolled at Norwich University were GI Bill® students, of which 569 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Quinnipiac University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS list. Located in Hamden, Connecticut, this medium-sized private not-for-profit school awarded 43 diplomas to qualified ’s IS students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Quinnipiac, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 9,746 students enrolled at Quinnipiac University, 16 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 4 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $21,337. Boston College is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 102 ’s IS degrees to qualified students.
Boston College not only placed well in this ranking. University of Massachusetts - Lowell is a public institution located in Lowell, Massachusetts. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 244 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

With a ranking of #7, Wentworth Institute of Technology did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS list. Wentworth Institute of Technology is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Boston, Massachusetts. It awarded 25 ’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
WIT also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 4,389 students enrolled at Wentworth Institute of Technology, 136 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 71 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $14,901. In addition to receiving other benefits, 12 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Wentworth Institute of Technology does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Harvard University landed the #8 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for IS ranking. Harvard University is a large school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that handed out 11 ’s IS degrees in 2020-2021.
