In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
For this year’s “Most Well Attended IT Major” ranking, we looked at 907 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools that graduate the most students in information technology.

UMGC is located in Adelphi, Maryland and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 1,279 ’s IT degrees to qualified students.
The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 4.4%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend American Public University System. The school came in at #5 for the Most Well Attended IT Major. American Military University is a large school located in Charles Town, West Virginia that handed out 678 ’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
With a freshman retention rate of 98%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

University of the Cumberlands came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Well Attended IT Major ranking. University of the Cumberlands is a fairly large school located in Williamsburg, Kentucky that handed out 442 ’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
New York University did quite well in the 2023 Most Well Attended IT Major ranking, coming in at #7. NYU is a private not-for-profit institution located in New York, New York. The school has a large population, and it awarded 431 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
