In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 4,676 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,751 and $27,009 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Well Attended IT Major in the Great Lakes Region” ranking, we looked at 163 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools that graduate the most students in information technology.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Baker College. The school came in at #2 for the Most Well Attended IT Major in the Great Lakes Region. Baker College is located in Owosso, Michigan and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 115 ’s IT degrees to qualified students.
The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 8 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

Out of the 163 schools in the Most Well Attended IT Major in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, DePaul University landed the #3 spot on the list. Chicago, Illinois is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s IT degrees to 112 students in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 3.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
