It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for an Associate” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 11,783 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $45,555 and $24,433 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 2,573 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,328 and $20,384 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IT for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 39 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the information technology program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Virginia Beach, Virginia is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associates’s IT degrees to 462 students in 2020-2021.
ECPI University also took the #5 spot in our “Best Information Technology Associate Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 12 of the 14,353 students enrolled at ECPI University were GI Bill® students, of which 9 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
