When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across Maryland, there were 2,861 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,581 and $21,254 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 488 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,642 and $26,517 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Maryland Global Campus. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for IT for a Bachelor’s. UMGC is a large school located in Adelphi, Maryland that handed out 322 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
UMGC did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Maryland” list.Of the 58,526 students enrolled at UMGC, 4 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 6 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $913. During this same period, 4 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Out of the 5 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for IT for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Mount St Mary’s University landed the #2 spot on the list. This small school is located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and it awarded 22 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Maryland - Baltimore County. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for IT for a Bachelor’s list. This fairly large school is located in Baltimore, Maryland, and it awarded 80 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
UMBC not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Maryland” list.Our most recent data shows that 53 of the 13,497 students enrolled at University of Maryland - Baltimore County were GI Bill® students, of which 30 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $9,027. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
