When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. One of our goals at College Factual is to give you as much information as we can - such as our “Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT” ranking - to help you make that decision.
Information Technology is the 42nd most popular major in the country with 40,555 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across California, there were 2,283 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $44,999 and $19,657 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT” ranking, we looked at 9 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information technology programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the information technology program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT
The following schools top our list of the Best “Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT”.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Southern California. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT list. This large school is located in Los Angeles, California, and it awarded 29 ’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at USC, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Among the 46,287 students enrolled at USC, 1,311 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 862 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $20,487. UC Santa Cruz is a fairly large public school situated in Santa Cruz, California. It awarded 135 ’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.

University of San Diego landed the #6 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT ranking. USD is a private not-for-profit institution located in San Diego, California. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 40 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
USD did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 44 of the 8,861 students enrolled at University of San Diego were GI Bill® students, of which 28 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. California State University - San Marcos came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in California for IT ranking. CSUSM is located in San Marcos, California and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 12 ’s IT degrees to qualified students.
