When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for IT for a Master’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Information Technology is the 42nd most popular major in the country with 40,555 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Far Western US region, there were 4,678 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $49,416 and $21,765 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for IT for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 12 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 12 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for IT for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Southern California landed the #2 spot on the list. USC is a large school located in Los Angeles, California that handed out 29 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
USC also made our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Far Western US Region” list, coming in at #3.According to our most recent data, USC supports 46,287 students, and 1,311 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 862 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $20,487. During this same period, 388 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

With a ranking of #9, Seattle Pacific University did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for IT for a Master’s list. SPU is a small school located in Seattle, Washington that handed out 7 masters’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
SPU not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #6 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools in the Far Western US Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 187 of the 3,601 students enrolled at SPU were GI Bill® students, of which 121 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $19,763. During this same period, 78 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
