In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across Massachusetts, there were 492 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $54,537 and $22,372 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for IT” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in information technology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Northeastern University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for IT list. Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s IT degrees to 21 students in 2020-2021.
Northeastern not only placed well in this ranking. Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for IT that were part of this year’s ranking, Boston College landed the #2 spot on the list. Boston College is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 25 ’s IT degrees to qualified students.
Boston College also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 14,934 students enrolled at Boston College, 170 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 100 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $17,142. On top of their other funding sources, 64 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Brandeis University. The school came in at #4 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for IT. This medium-sized school is located in Waltham, Massachusetts, and it awarded 31 ’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.
Brandeis also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 41 of the 5,440 students enrolled at Brandeis were GI Bill® students, of which 22 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $14,483. During this same period, 15 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 90%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. STCC is a public institution located in Springfield, Massachusetts. The school has a small population, and it awarded 31 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
STCC not only placed well in this ranking. Northern Essex Community College ranked #6 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in Massachusetts for IT list. Northern Essex Community College is a public institution located in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The school has a small population, and it awarded 13 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
NECC did well in our major quality rankings, too.
