Veterans have lots of options to chooose from today when trying to decide which college to attend. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for IT” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
Information Technology is the 42nd most popular major in the country with 40,555 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across Virginia, there were 1,738 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,411 and $24,154 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for IT” ranking looked at 15 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the information technology program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 15 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for IT that were part of this year’s ranking, ECPI University landed the #1 spot on the list. Virginia Beach, Virginia is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out ’s IT degrees to 882 students in 2020-2021.
ECPI University also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].According to our most recent data, ECPI University supports 14,353 students, and 12 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 9 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
