With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
With 254,454 degrees handed out in 2020-2021, computer and information sciences is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer and information sciences graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,893 and had an average of $27,324 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 15,993 computer and information sciences graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,451 and $31,129 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,293 computer and information sciences graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,822 and $20,997 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 12 colleges that offer a degree in computer and information sciences. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer and information sciences programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Utah Valley University. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate. UVU is a large school located in Orem, Utah that handed out 171 associates’s computer and information sciences degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our rocky mountains region associate degree vets studying computer & information sciences list, UVU has also earned the #2 rank in our “Best Computer & Information Sciences Associate Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 813 of the 40,936 students enrolled at Utah Valley University were GI Bill® students, of which 379 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $4,550. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Out of the 12 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate that were part of this year’s ranking, Idaho State University landed the #4 spot on the list. Located in Pocatello, Idaho, this fairly large public school awarded 8 degrees to qualified associates’s computer and information sciences students in 2020-2021.
ISU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #10 on our “Best Computer & Information Sciences Associate Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 422 of the 11,766 students enrolled at Idaho State University were GI Bill® students, of which 221 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,419. During this same period, 4 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Idaho State University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

The University of Montana is located in Missoula, Montana and, has a fairly large student population. Weber State University ranked #6 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate list. WSU is located in Ogden, Utah and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 193 associates’s computer and information sciences degrees to qualified students.
WSU not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #4 on our “Best Computer & Information Sciences Associate Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” list.Among the 29,596 students enrolled at WSU, 747 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Front Range Community College is located in Westminster, Colorado and, has a fairly large student population. PPCC is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and, has a fairly large student population. With a ranking of #10, College of Western Idaho did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Computer & Information Sciences for an Associate list. Nampa, Idaho is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s computer and information sciences degrees to 72 students in 2020-2021.

Salt Lake City, Utah is the setting for this small institution of higher learning.
