Best General Education Schools for Non-Traditional Students
University of Massachusetts Amherst has taken the #1 spot in this year's general education ranking for non-traditional students. UMass Amherst is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Amherst. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, UMass Amherst has also earned the #1 rank in our Best Colleges for General Education in the New England Region ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.9%. 4,105 students at UMass Amherst are exclusively online. There are roughly 6,786 part time students in attendance at UMass Amherst.
The #2 spot in this year's ranking belongs to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. MCLA is a fairly small public school located in the town of North Adams. MCLA not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for General Education in the New England Region list.
About 3.0% of MCLA students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. Approximately 270 students take at least one class online at MCLA. 171 students are part time.
