The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Wyoming. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Education for a Doctorate list. Laramie, Wyoming is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctorate’s education degrees to 8 students in 2020-2021.

UW also made our “Best General Education Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” list, coming in at #1.Our most recent data shows that 473 of the 11,829 students enrolled at UW were GI Bill® students, of which 255 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,738. To help with additional expenses, 13 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. UW does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Education for a Doctorate. This fairly large school is located in Bozeman, Montana, and it awarded 2 doctorate’s education degrees in 2020-2021.

MSU Bozeman also took the #3 spot in our “Best General Education Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” ranking.Of the 16,218 students enrolled at MSU Bozeman, 656 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 393 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $7,023. As a testament to the quality of education offered at U of I, the school also landed the #2 spot in our “Best General Education Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” ranking.Among the 10,791 students enrolled at U of I, 382 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 248 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,784.
