In 2020-2021, 29,810 people earned their degree in general education, making the major the 41st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $48,719 and had an average of $23,394 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 3,893 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $46,811 and $21,316 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Education” ranking analyzed 63 colleges that offered a degree in general education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the general education program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Syracuse University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Education list. Syracuse University is located in Syracuse, New York and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 14 ’s education degrees to qualified students.
