In 2020-2021, 327,871 education students received their degree, making the major the 4th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,202 and had an average of $24,437 in loans still to pay off.
Across Alabama, there were 5,062 education graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,984 and $27,485 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,828 education graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,756 and $28,178 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Alabama for Education for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a degree in education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the education program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

The University of Alabama is a large public school situated in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It awarded 193 bachelors’s education degrees in 2020-2021.
UA also made our “Best Education Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Alabama” list, coming in at #2.Of the 37,840 students enrolled at UA, 2,081 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1,128 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $7,975. To help with additional expenses, 357 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. UA does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
