In 2020-2021, 36,792 people earned their degree in special education, making the major the 29th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, special education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,679 and had an average of $24,977 in loans still to pay off.

Across Georgia, there were 550 special education graduates with average earnings and debt of $44,456 and $24,354 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Georgia for Special Ed” ranking looked at 13 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in special education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great special education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Located in Athens, Georgia, this large public school handed out 75 diplomas to qualified ’s special ed students in 2020-2021.

UGA did well in our major quality rankings, too.
