In 2020-2021, 13,858 people earned their degree in student counseling, making the major the 72nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, student counseling graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $44,291 and had an average of $0 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Far Western US region, there were 2,455 student counseling graduates with average earnings and debt of $52,960 and $0 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Student Counseling” ranking, we looked at 42 colleges that offer a degree in student counseling. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality student counseling programs as well as strong veteran support.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Southern California. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Student Counseling list. USC is a large school located in Los Angeles, California that handed out 175 ’s student counseling degrees in 2020-2021.
