The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great teacher education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Sam Houston State University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Teacher Education list. SHSU is located in Huntsville, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 317 ’s teacher education degrees to qualified students.

UMHB not only placed well in this ranking. Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this fairly large public school awarded 76 diplomas to qualified ’s teacher education students in 2020-2021.
CNM also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 21,398 students enrolled at CNM, 839 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 390 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $1,171. El Paso Community College is located in El Paso, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 177 ’s teacher education degrees to qualified students.

Baylor University ranked #10 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Teacher Education list. Baylor University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Waco, Texas. The school has a large population, and it awarded 4 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Baylor, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 19,297 students enrolled at Baylor University, 876 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
