In 2020-2021, 6,736 people earned their degree in engineering-related fields, making the major the 112th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, engineering-related fields graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $77,404 and had an average of $26,200 in loans still to pay off.

Across Texas, there were 271 engineering-related fields graduates with average earnings and debt of $86,038 and $0 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Engineering-Related Fields” ranking, we looked at 5 colleges that offer a degree in engineering-related fields. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering-related fields programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Southern Methodist University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Engineering-Related Fields list. SMU is a private not-for-profit institution located in Dallas, Texas. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 50 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

SMU also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 12,373 students enrolled at Southern Methodist University, 327 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 215 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $15,612. To help with additional expenses, 103 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Southern Methodist University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
