It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Bachelor’s” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
Engineering Technologies is the 20th most popular major in the country with 85,188 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, engineering technologies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,350 and had an average of $21,560 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 10,969 engineering technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $48,978 and $20,173 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,503 engineering technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 17 colleges that offer a degree in engineering technologies. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering technologies programs as well as strong veteran support.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas A&M University - College Station. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Bachelor’s list. Texas A&M University - College Station is a large public school situated in College Station, Texas. It awarded 557 bachelors’s engineering tech degrees in 2020-2021.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Bachelor’s. ASU - Tempe is a large school located in Tempe, Arizona that handed out 128 bachelors’s engineering tech degrees in 2020-2021.
ASU - Tempe not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Of the 74,795 students enrolled at Arizona State University - Tempe, 7,566 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. OSU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #5 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Among the 24,535 students enrolled at OSU, 1,038 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 439 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $7,226. During this same period, 39 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. OSU offers credit for military training for eligible students.
