In 2020-2021, 85,188 people earned their degree in engineering technologies, making the major the 20th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, engineering technologies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,350 and had an average of $21,560 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 14,715 engineering technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,609 and $22,191 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering Tech” ranking, we looked at 64 colleges that offer a degree in engineering technologies. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering technologies programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the engineering technologies program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 64 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering Tech that were part of this year’s ranking, Purdue University - Main Campus landed the #1 spot on the list. Purdue is located in West Lafayette, Indiana and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 854 ’s engineering tech degrees to qualified students.

UDayton is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Dayton, Ohio. It awarded 98 ’s engineering tech degrees in 2020-2021.
