Chemical Engineering is the 70th most popular major in the country with 12,917 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, chemical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $65,870 and had an average of $23,285 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,506 chemical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,230 and $22,434 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,225 chemical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Chem Eng for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 17 colleges that offer a degree in chemical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality chemical engineering programs as well as strong veteran support.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas A&M University - College Station. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Chem Eng for a Bachelor’s list. College Station, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelors’s chem eng degrees to 232 students in 2020-2021.
