In 2020-2021, 21,388 people earned their degree in civil engineering, making the major the 50th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, civil engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $63,364 and had an average of $24,364 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 2,298 civil engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,030 and $22,313 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,600 civil engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Civil Eng for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 23 colleges that offered a degree in civil engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great civil engineering programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
