Civil Engineering is the 50th most popular major in the country with 21,388 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, civil engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $63,364 and had an average of $24,364 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 4,665 civil engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,648 and $25,060 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Civil Eng” ranking, we looked at 52 colleges that offer a degree in civil engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality civil engineering programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the civil engineering program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

In addition to being on our southeast region vets studying civil eng list, Clemson has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 922 of the 26,406 students enrolled at Clemson University were GI Bill® students, of which 429 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,920. In addition to receiving other benefits, 15 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools.
