It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Civil Eng” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2020-2021, 21,388 people earned their degree in civil engineering, making the major the 50th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, civil engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $63,364 and had an average of $24,364 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Plains States region, there were 1,301 civil engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,656 and $25,759 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Civil Eng” ranking, we looked at 18 colleges that offer a degree in civil engineering. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent civil engineering programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the civil engineering program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 18 Best Civil Engineering Colleges for Veterans in the Plains States Region
Out of the 18 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for Civil Eng that were part of this year’s ranking, Missouri University of Science and Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. Rolla, Missouri is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s civil eng degrees to 168 students in 2020-2021.
