Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Engineering” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
General Engineering is the 79th most popular major in the country with 11,796 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, general engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $68,873 and had an average of $20,557 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Far Western US region, there were 1,478 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,923 and $19,630 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Engineering” ranking, we looked at 20 colleges that offer a degree in general engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general engineering programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the general engineering program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of California - Los Angeles. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Engineering. University of California - Los Angeles is a large school located in Los Angeles, California that handed out 58 ’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
