In 2020-2021, 11,796 people earned their degree in general engineering, making the major the 79th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $68,873 and had an average of $20,557 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 471 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $79,025 and $23,481 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Engineering” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general engineering programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Colorado Boulder. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Engineering list. This large school is located in Boulder, Colorado, and it awarded 96 ’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
CU - Boulder did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 37,437 students enrolled at University of Colorado Boulder, 1,379 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Colorado State is a large public school situated in Fort Collins, Colorado. It awarded 67 ’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.

Montana Tech also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 1,650 students enrolled at Montana Tech, 117 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Fort Lewis College came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Engineering ranking. FLC is located in Durango, Colorado and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 21 ’s engineering degrees to qualified students.
FLC also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 101 of the 3,469 students enrolled at FLC were GI Bill® students, of which 53 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
