In 2020-2021, 9,072 people earned their degree in industrial engineering, making the major the 87th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, industrial engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $68,960 and had an average of $24,268 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 2,419 industrial engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,633 and $23,339 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,714 industrial engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IE for a Bachelor’s” ranking looked at 19 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in industrial engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great industrial engineering programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Auburn University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for IE for a Bachelor’s list. Auburn University is located in Auburn, Alabama and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 123 bachelors’s IE degrees to qualified students.
