University of California - Berkeley tops the 2021 list of our schools in the Far Western US Region that are best for non-traditional mechanical engineering students. Located in the midsize city of Berkeley, UC Berkeley is a public school with a very large student population. UC Berkeley also made our Best Colleges for Mechanical Engineering in the Far Western US Region list, coming in at #2.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.5%. There are approximately 26,398 students at UC Berkeley that take at least one class online. There are roughly 4,099 part time students in attendance at UC Berkeley.

California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo landed the #2 spot in our 2021 best mechanical engineering schools for non-traditional students. Located in the small suburb of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is a public college with a very large student population. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo also took the #5 spot in our Best Colleges for Mechanical Engineering in the Far Western US Region rankings.
