Mechanical Engineering is the 21st most popular major in the country with 46,178 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, mechanical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $69,007 and had an average of $23,944 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 3,129 mechanical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $70,830 and $25,554 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent mechanical engineering programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Top 10 Best Mechanical Engineering Doctor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in the New England Region
Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for ME for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this fairly large private not-for-profit school handed out 45 degrees to qualified doctorate’s ME students in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our new england region doctor’s degree vets studying me list, MIT has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Mechanical Engineering Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” ranking.Among the 11,254 students enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 129 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. This large school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 10 doctorate’s ME degrees in 2020-2021.

UMass Amherst is a public institution located in Amherst, Massachusetts. The school has a large population, and it awarded 6 doctorate’s degrees in 2020-2021.
UMass Amherst not only placed well in this ranking.
