In 2019-2020, mining engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $69,426 and had an average of $26,873 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 57 mining engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $76,657 and $23,375 respectively.

Top 2 Best Mining Engineering Colleges for Veterans in the Southwest Region
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Arizona. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Mining Engineering. This large school is located in Tucson, Arizona, and it awarded 45 ’s mining engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
University of Arizona did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 45,601 students enrolled at University of Arizona, 2,131 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1,478 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,880. During this same period, 31 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of Arizona does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
With a freshman retention rate of 85%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Mining Engineering. This small school is located in Socorro, New Mexico, and it awarded 12 ’s mining engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
New Mexico Tech also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 36 of the 1,686 students enrolled at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology were GI Bill® students, of which 18 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $4,987. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The impressive undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 8 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.
