Top 5 Best Engineering Master’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in North Carolina
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend North Carolina State University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in North Carolina for Engineering for a Master’s list. Raleigh, North Carolina is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s engineering degrees to 800 students in 2020-2021.
NC State not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in North Carolina” list.Our most recent data shows that 1,102 of the 36,042 students enrolled at North Carolina State University were GI Bill® students, of which 493 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $5,886. In addition to receiving other benefits, 27 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. North Carolina State University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 94%.

East Carolina University is a large public school situated in Greenville, North Carolina. It awarded 18 masters’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at ECU, the school also landed the #5 spot in our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in North Carolina” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 8 of the 28,798 students enrolled at East Carolina University were GI Bill® students, of which 4 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Durham, North Carolina is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s engineering degrees to 260 students in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our north carolina master’s degree vets studying engineering list, Duke has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in North Carolina” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 36 of the 16,172 students enrolled at Duke were GI Bill® students, of which 9 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $18,387. To help with additional expenses, 8 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 97%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. NC A&T is a fairly large school located in Greensboro, North Carolina that handed out 40 masters’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.
