Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for English Language for a Bachelor’s” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 40,481 people earned their degree in English, making the major the 19th most popular in the United States.
Across the New England region, there were 3,465 English graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,669 English graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,403 and $25,944 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for English Language for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 50 colleges that offered a degree in English. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great English programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the English program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 25 Best English Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in the New England Region
Out of the 50 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for English Language for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Brown University landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 64 degrees to qualified bachelors’s English language students in 2020-2021.
Brown did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best English Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 98 of the 9,948 students enrolled at Brown were GI Bill® students, of which 19 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
