In 2020-2021, 40,481 people earned their degree in general English literature, making the major the 24th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $29,881 and had an average of $23,769 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 3,465 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,104 and $24,193 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value English Schools in the New England Region For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking analyzed 52 colleges that offered a degree in general English literature. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general English literature programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
