It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for English for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 40,481 people earned their degree in general English literature, making the major the 24th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $29,881 and had an average of $23,769 in loans still to pay off.
Across Oregon, there were 400 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,312 and $23,450 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 373 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,095 and $25,983 respectively.

Top 7 Best General English Literature Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in Oregon
Out of the 7 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for English for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Portland State University landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Portland, Oregon, and it awarded 108 bachelors’s English degrees in 2020-2021.
Portland State University did well in our major quality rankings, too. EOU is a public institution located in La Grande, Oregon. The school has a small population, and it awarded 23 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Portland, Oregon is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelors’s English degrees to 16 students in 2020-2021.
University of Portland did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best General English Literature Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Oregon” list.Our most recent data shows that 107 of the 3,999 students enrolled at University of Portland were GI Bill® students, of which 49 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,239. On top of their other funding sources, 56 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Willamette University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for English for a Bachelor’s ranking, coming in at #6. Willamette University is located in Salem, Oregon and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 20 bachelors’s English degrees to qualified students.
Willamette not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #6 on our “Best General English Literature Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Oregon” list.Our most recent data shows that 38 of the 1,866 students enrolled at Willamette University were GI Bill® students, of which 21 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $22,172. On top of their other funding sources, 15 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
